Christian Science is the Science of Christianity. It is the practical application of the teachings of Christ Jesus to daily life. It is both a teaching and a system of healing rooted in the Bible. It teaches that there is one infinite God who is all-powerful and all-good, and that the tender love of the Christ heals mankind.
The Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, called for a ministry of Christian Science nurses that would provide tender, practical care to those seeking healing through Christian Science. Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association was formed in 1916 to support the practice of Christian Science nursing by those who have a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, as well as a thorough understanding of the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who are able to take proper care of the sick as called for in the Church Manual.
If you would like to learn more about Christian Science, you may read, borrow, or purchase a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy at any Christian Science Reading Room. Visit the church’s website at www.tfccs.com for further information.
