The BA offers three workshops for Christian Science branch churches, designed to provide helpful information and to answer questions. The first workshop is titled, How to Help Care for our Fellow Church Members. The second is titled, Simplifying Medicare and Health Insurance for Christian Scientists. The third is titled Discover the BA as a Resource.
How to Help Care for our Fellow Church Members provides a foundation for ethical, practical, and compassionate steps to support those needing assistance or care. It springs from Mary Baker Eddy’s By-law, “Christian Science Nurse.” (Church Manual, Art. VIII, Sect. 31) The following points are covered during the workshop:
- The ethics and principles of helping others
- Talk-through hypotheticals
- Hands-on demonstrations of simple skills such as helping an
individual get out of a low chair - Christian Science and community resources
Simplifying Medicare and Health Insurance for Christian Scientists addresses questions related to payment for Christian Science nursing care. Significant funding is necessary to pay for Christian Science nursing care and individuals often find it useful to consider practical payment options, in advance.
The workshop answers common questions such as:
- Which insurance companies offer Christian Science benefits?
- What is the difference between Medicare Part A & B?
- What should I know about Medicare elections?
Discover the BA as a Resource presents useful information about the BA’s Christian Science nursing services, the Christian Science Nursing Arts training program, Rest & Study, and the Residential Program. Subjects include sources of payment, admissions, and an overview of the BA as a whole. There is ample opportunity for questions and answers.
Branch churches and societies may request any or all of the workshops. To learn more, please call 800-662-9937.
