I receive many questions concerning the PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) that was signed into law in 2010, and whether it includes provisions for Christian Science care benefits. To date there is not an exemption (such as Massachusetts has) or an accommodation that meets the needs of Christian Scientists in the PPACA. The Christian Science Committee on Publication Timeline shows the steps that have been taken toward accommodation and/or exemption.
On June 30 there is a great opportunity to hear directly from the Federal Committee on Publication office, and to ask your own questions.
The Federal Office is hosting an online Townhall Forum for Church members and friends who are interested in learning more about the Federal Committee on Publication’s work on health care reform. Over a year has passed since the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law, yet there still is neither an exemption nor an accommodation that meets the needs of Christian Scientists. During this live, online event, the Federal Office staff will brief you on their latest legislative efforts and field any questions you may have. In the meantime, please check out the FAQs page, which provides detailed information on this subject.
Date: 5pm EST on June 30, 2011
