Christian Science Nursing Services

Inpatient Care

Our inpatient care provides a refuge for study and prayer for individuals relying on Christian Science for healing. Patients receive individual care which keeps pace with their progress and healing. Christian Science nurses are on duty 24 hours a day to respond to, and care for, needs of mobility/activity, communication, comfort, rest, cleanliness, nourishment, and the surroundings.

Patients have private rooms that include a private bath and shower, phone, and voice mail. Meals are prepared under the direction of our chef and modified according to individual needs. Each room receives the Weekly Bible Lesson-Sermon and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy on a four-channel PA system. There are areas for study, dining, and other activities on the nursing floor. Informal church services are held Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings in our activity room.

Outpatient Care

Outpatient care supports adults and children who need nursing assistance but do not need to stay at the facility. This care might include assistance with cleansing and bandaging or assistance with the use of mobility aids such as crutches or walkers. It is available on a walk-in basis in our outpatient room located on the first floor of the nursing building. It is helpful, when possible, to call before coming.

Visiting Christian Science Nursing Service

The BA’s Christian Science nursing care extends beyond its walls through its Visiting Christian Science Nursing Service (VCSNS). This service promptly and tenderly ministers to individuals’ needs wherever they are, and regardless of time of day, or day of week.

Visiting Christian Science nursing care is always expectant of complete healing and may include practical assistance with mobility and activity, nourishment, cleanliness, communication, comfort, rest, and one’s surroundings. The nurse might also lend instructional support to family members or other caregivers who are providing proper care for meeting the individual’s needs.

Calls that do not require an immediate visit from a Christian Science nurse are scheduled throughout the day as needed to keep pace with an individual’s progress and demonstration. Visits are typically no longer than two hours.

The BA’s service is available to individuals in the six-state New England region of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. In areas of this region where there is already a VCSNS, the BA supports those nursing services as a backup, additional resource.
