Phase 1 Renovation Complete!
We are pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the renovation of the BA’s Original Building is complete!
As announced last summer, this project enables the building to meet local and federal building code requirements, comply with accessibility and safety regulations, offer expanded housing capacity for Christian Science nurses receiving training, and provide updated design
for living and working spaces.
“Everything we do at the BA is geared towards healing,” says Linda Cain, a member of the BA’s Board of Trustees and Chair of the Building Committee. “Our second floor renovation is no exception. This renovation will provide us with the necessary housing to support our nurses training program that is blessing the whole field.”
The Building is a lovely, 88-year-old historic structure built in a style known as “English Collegiate,” which is a style that has been used for many of the properties found throughout the Chestnut Hill area of Boston.
RENOVATION RESULTS IN “FIRSTS” FOR THE BA
- Guests and residents can enter and leave the building by an
elevator located to the left of the main entrance, rather than by climbing stairs. - A restroom that is wheelchair-accessible has been installed on
the first floor of the original building. - A conference room is in place and ready for use by BA staff and others such as executive boards of Christian Science associations.
- Ten rooms with kitchenettes are available for Christian Science
nurses traveling to the BA for training and for Rest & Study guests.
