Join Cary Grant, Julia Child, and a variety of other celebrities (aka Steve Carlson) at the BA for some pre-movie comedy entertainment for a big-screen movie night.

You may be familiar with Steve Carlson’s voice from Sentinel Radio programs, both as a producer and host. But perhaps you didn’t know that he has quite a few other voices as well. While most of his career has been at The Mother Church, serving mainly as an editor for the Christian Science periodicals and The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Steve also has had a career as a professional comic impressionist. He first appeared on stage with legendary entertainer Steve Allen as a volunteer from the audience. The enthusiastic reception he received from that brief appearance inspired him to further develop a talent for voices that he has had since his days in high school. As a result, Steve spent many years performing throughout New England and beyond, both in comedy clubs and other venues. Perhaps you’ve caught him during one of his performances at Principia Summer Session or right here at the BA.

The Talk of the Town (1942) (Netflix movie synopsis)
"Cary Grant stars as Leopold, an activist wrongly imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. To avoid execution, he breaks out of jail and takes a job as a gardener for a teacher named Nora (Jean Arthur). Nora's other houseguest (Ronald Colman) is a legal scholar who learns Leopold's true identity. Arthur and Coleman end up helping Grant find justice—and perhaps even love. The film earned seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture."

Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted to help raise funds for new video/sound equipment for the BA.

Lecture at the BA: "Prayer that heals, protects, and restores"

02:30 PM to 03:30 PM More information »
Location: @ the BA Chapel

You are invited to a talk by Christian Science practitioner and lecturer Betty Jean O'Neal entitled, “Prayer that heals, protects, and restores.”

People everywhere are looking for solutions. They are looking for deep and permanent healing, comfort, and hope. Worldwide, people are turning to prayer for answers. National speaker, Betty Jean O’Neal, says, “I have found in my own experience that through prayer the spiritual laws of God, universal good, can be applied to any situation.

In O’Neal’s talk, "Prayer that heals, protects, and restores," she references the original sourcebook on Christian healing, the Bible, along with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, a book of universally applicable ideas on practical spirituality.

In this talk audiences will:
• Explore how the power of God operates in our lives.
• Hear examples of how individuals have put this healing system into practice, including being saved from school bullies, finding companionship, and physical healing.

For more information about this lecture, email the BA at inquiry@chbenevolent.org or call 617-734-5600. To learn more about Betty O'Neal, visit the Lectures page on christianscience.com.
