When Mary Baker Eddy proposed the idea of an institution where those under any sense of burden might find a refuge from the problems confronting them, she must have thought not only of the practical comforts but:
“…more especially of the mental or spiritual environment which would bring to the individual a more spiritual sense of existence as it is in God….Every case of healing accomplished at this [institution] through the practice of Mrs. Eddy’s teachings not only is a proof to others that this spiritual mode of treatment is effectual, but also makes healing easier everywhere, because the overcoming of disease is not a matter of locality.” (Christian Science Sentinel, April 8, 1922)
Rest & Study at Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association is an integral part of the BA’s healing activity. It offers an opportunity for spiritual refreshment and renewal where students of Christian Science can demonstrate Truth’s healing power. Rest & Study guests value the many quiet reading spaces, as well as the peaceful walking paths throughout the 23-acre campus.
Lovely guest rooms and suites with woodland views, beautiful living and study rooms, a gracious dining room, and an extensive collection of Bible reference books and other Christian Science publications provide an ideal location for consecrated prayer.
Guests are also welcome to join activities sponsored by the Residential Program, including hymn sings, musical programs, afternoon teas, and off-campus events. The Mother Church, Longyear Museum, and several branch churches and Christian Science Reading Rooms are near by.
Guest rooms include breakfast, and visitors are always welcome to make reservations for lunch and dinner. Complimentary van service to Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services at The Mother Church is also included on a space-available basis.
