(Podcast) "I never fear my food…" Janet Horton and a Christian Science perspective on healthy eating

Retired Army Colonel Janet Horton spoke with us while at the BA in 2011 for our Christian Science Nursing Arts graduation ceremony.  She shared some revealing insights on why her Army review panel couldn’t understand how she could be so healthy. She explains, “I believe what Mrs. Eddy said, that every human heart yearns for something that is higher…”

    Thank you for this.

    This was very inspiring.

Could Janet do a podcast on how to explain Christian Science to others if she hasn’t already done so? I think everybody would be interested regardless of their background in Christian Science.

Truth, Wisdom, Love and Sincerity, to ALL mankind.

Thank you for this insight about food and about health. A wonderful example of living the teachings of Christian Science. I love the idea that of course all tests came back perfect because man is very good according to Genesis 1.

    That was great

Thanks for helping me shift my thought. It’s too easy to go along with the current food fears. After listening to Janet my prayer to divine Love was “forgive me for fearing (worshipping) food.” And thanks for the reminder of the only diagnosis that God gives. Just another thought. The only mirror we look into is divine Science. This dear Science shows us to be “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

    Many thanks.

What a proof you’ve given of how living a Godly life,
    sustains and maintains your Godliness! {Gen 1:27& 31}
This is tremendous, – and given so convincingly and
humbly. Your demonstration of the ‘practice’ of Christian
    Science is beautiful. Great thanks!

    Sincerely and with much love,
    Susan

  6. Bill says:

What a great example of a test becoming a testament to Spirit’s natural and complete care of a loved daughter. Thank you for sharing this Janet.

  7. Rhonda says:

Wow! What a wonder testament to a Christian Science way of life. I love your response “I never fear my food…” I am asked occasionally what I eat and I will now add your response to mine. That really is the key. Thank you. (=

Thank you so much for for that podcast! It has been very helpful to me.
I’m sure it will be very helpful to others. I wish experienced CS were more willing to share their experiences with healing they have no idea how encouraging and helpful it may be to someone struggling with an issue
    Thank you

Physical examinations have seemed to be a problem for me, but reading how you “embrace them” and “not dread” them is a tremendous help to me. Thanks so much, Janet for sharing this experience and these wonderful ideas with us. I am so grateful.

  12. Diane says:

What a great phrase! “I never fear my food” WOW! How often do we feel worried about how or where our food was produced…should we eat organic or is this being “fearful”?
Janet is also ACTIVELY protecting herself with her “spiritual breakfast” rather than just being defiant about not being fearful, which I think is an important point.
