2. Longyear Museum – a good neighbor
It’s no secret that we get lots of snow and cold weather in Boston. It keeps our Facilities Department busy around the clock in the winter months, shoveling, salting, and eliminating ice dams. For those of you not familiar with ice dams on roofs, an ice dam is the result of snow that has melted and then refrozen at the edge of the roof. As additional snow melts, runs down, and refreezes, the layer of ice continues to build, creating a literal dam—a barrier that prevents water from running off the roof. Last week we borrowed Longyear’s ice dam steamer to remove some of the worst ice dams on our roofs. Great to have a good neighbor like Longyear Museum right down the street. In addition to removing the ice dams, we are working on solutions for our roofs that will eliminate them altogether.
3. Heart-shaped ravioli for Valentine’s Day
Chef Mark worked his magic again for Valentine’s Day dining. Special touches included heart-shaped ravioli, macarons, and heart-shaped ice cream. The Residential Team added dozens of red balloons, cards, and candy for a festive celebration. Here is Chef Mark’s recipe for Heart-shaped Four Cheese Ravioli.
4. Christian Science Nurses Training Event – March 16
Register here for our Christian Science Nurses Training on-line Event on March 16th at 7:30 p.m. eastern. It’s a 45 minute look into Christian Science nurses’ training. You’ll hear from Christian Science nurses, find out more about the classes and curriculum, have a short tour of the training facilities, and time for Q&A. Our next CSNA I (Introductory Christian Science Nursing Arts) class begins August 10, 2021 and is a 10-week course.
5. Christian Science Provider Network shout out
A big shout-out to the CSPN for their ongoing work in helping secure Christian Science benefits in healthcare plans, especially Medicare Advantage. CSPN is a provider network of Christian Science nursing institutions, and the BA is a member. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation originally established by the Christian Science Board of Directors and created to assist Christian Science providers in becoming in-network providers for health plans that have a Christian Science benefit. This past year CSPN has been working with the Christian Science Committee on Publication’s Government Relations Counsel and its Federal Office in Washington, DC with a focus on securing Christian Science benefits in Medicare Advantage plans.
