Healing at the BA

This healing was originally shared in a Benevolent Association pamphlet printed in the early 1920s. It demonstrates the blessing of having the refuge of the BA.

“I wish to give grateful testimony for the healing I have received since coming to The Christian Science Benevolent Association.* My left eye was badly injured by dynamite and the doctors said that I might see to walk but never to read. I was entirely healed within four days after my arrival and have laid aside glasses which I had worn for some time, and am now able to read without them. My arm, which was shattered by dynamite at the same time my eye was hurt, has given me no pain since the first day I came, and is healing rapidly. Some eighteen months ago I had sinking spells and seemed to have a badly affected heart. I had treatment by a practitioner and was relieved somewhat but since coming here have had complete healing. I have been healed of the tobacco habit of twenty-eight years’ standing, both chewing and smoking. I had tried many times to give it up but without success. I am very grateful for all this; also grateful that, though l was not a member of The Mother Church or of a branch Church I was taken in and treated with such loving kindness.”

*The BA was originally named The Christian Science Benevolent Association. The Christian Science Board of Directors changed the name to Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association in 1981 when a change in stewardship took place as The Christian Science Board of Directors transferred the BA to a separate Trusteeship with its own Board of Trustees responsible for its own funding and operations.
