The Benevolent Association’s newly renovated main (south) parking lot is now complete providing a brighter, more gracious and functional parking area to welcome everyone who visits campus. Made possible by a generous donor, the project included new LED lighting, repaving, restriping, improved drainage, and infrastructure for future electric vehicle charging stations.
The redesigned layout also added 8 new parking spaces, bringing the total to 42. Additional lighting at the parking lot entrance and the granite steps leading to the Christian Science Nursing Building enhances safety for staff, residents, and visitors at all hours.
During construction, following an unusually wet spring, the paving contractor found that moisture remained beneath portions of the lot. Rather than rush the work, the project team allowed extra time for the ground to dry and for the new pavement to cure before reopening the lot. While this extended the project timeline, the extra time will help maximize the longevity of the new surface.
“The renovation of the main parking lot is evidence of the continuing progress that we see around campus,” said Pete Morgan, Director of Operations. “It’s one of the many capital projects that we’re working on to better represent the BA standard, and we’re so grateful to everyone who supported this endeavor!”
